In this he lays down a set of rules forthe analysis oflearning tasks, and the construction of appropriate training exercises. His rules are somewhat strict and were originally based more on reasoning than on experirnental evidence. Some of his suggestions do however seem to be bornc out by.subsequent experimcntation. In particular his three-class classification of learning tasks into chains, discriminations and generalizations has been orvalue to traincrs.
